Jim Wagner on the cover of Black Belt magazine
Sergeant Jim Wagner appeared on the February 2008 issue of Black Belt magazine in the Army Combat Uniform and holding a Boker Orca knife. Permission to appear in uniform was granted by the California State Military Reserve command. This issue brought attention to State Defense Forces and combatives program.
This is the second time Jim Wagner appeared on the cover of Black Belt magazine. The first time was the January 2002 issue when he appeared in a SWAT uniform holding a pistol. This was the first time Black Belt had anyone in tactical gear and the first time a firearm was on the cover. For this last issue a knife was chosen because Jim Wagner is considered one of the top knife instructors in the world and has his own knife series out on the market through the famous knife manufacturer Boker.
